IP Addresses in Audit Trail

Cor Winkler Prins

Audit TrailEach record in 4me has an audit trail that shows who made which updates and when these updates were made. As an extra security feature, each audit entry includes not only the name of the person who made the update, but also the IP address from which this update was performed. That additional piece of information can be helpful in determining whether someone’s 4me access has been breached when this person cannot recall making a specific update.

But someone’s IP address also has a privacy aspect associated with it. An IP address can be considered personally identifiable information (PII). So, to help organizations meet the requirements of the GDPR, 4me no longer shows the IP address below each audit entry. From now on, the IP address is displayed only for updates that were performed by people whose person record the user who is reviewing the audit trail has access to.
