Updates to the Specialist Interface
Several new updates to the Xurrent Specialist Interface have been made. These are aimed at modernizing the interfaces, improving usability and readability, and making better use of the larger screen resolutions that have become more common.
The most notable changes are in the table views. Below is an example of the new ‘Inbox’ view. The columns have not changed. The font has changed, the line spacing has increased, the column names are more pronounced, and the use of colors has been updated and reduced.
What is new is the notification icon for requests that have been assigned to your team. Instead of a blue dot, a clear indication is now given that this request is waiting for an update from your team, not necessarily you.
Also visible in the above example is the mouse pointer. Everything that is clickable in the Specialist Interface is now indicated by a pointer cursor (sometimes called link cursor, or hand). Check boxes and radio buttons still show the standard pointer.
Another notable change is in the previews. As an example, the preview of a person record is shown below. On the left is the old view, on the right the new. Again, no information has been changed, only represented differently. However, an Open detail view button has been added, which displays the complete record after clicking on it.
Finally (for now), the Service Hierarchy Browser (SHB) has been freshened up. Also here, only visual changes have been made. Nothing has changed in the displayed data or the functionality of the SHB. But it has been given more screen space, as it is a vital tool for service desk analyst to easily apply the correct service instances, configuration items, templates, and knowledge articles to requests.
In the example below, the changes to the SHB are placed side by side for comparison. The left side shows the old version and the right side the new.
Changes to the user interface are implemented gradually. We will always try to maintain a uniform look and feel, although that may not be possible in all cases during this period of transition.
